HAP Celebrates 10 Years of Patient Advocacy

August 24, 2023

The HAP Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) is celebrating a decade of patient advocacy. Established during August 2013, the group is the first hospital association-sponsored PFAC in the nation. Comprised of patients, families, community leaders, and members of the Pennsylvania health care workforce, HAP’s PFAC has supported hospitals and health systems by offering:

  • Regional, state, and national presentations
  • High school and medical school student education
  • National research
  • Blogs, articles, videos, vignettes
  • Patient education materials
  • Hospital-acquired conditions collaborations
  • Patient/Provider communication tools

By supporting hospitals in the quest to provide high quality, safe, fiscally responsible, and patient-centric care, HAP has become a recognized leader in the move toward enhanced patient engagement in health care. The HAP Patient and Family Advisory Council provides a platform for Pennsylvania hospitals to network, learn, and problem solve together in order to enhance hospitals’ patient and family engagement efforts.

HAP thanks the patients, families, community leaders, and health care professionals who work to improve patient care through their membership in the HAP Patient and Family Advisory Council.
