During 2024, the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) began drafting proposed updates to all 35 chapters of hospital licensure regulations. The DOH shared information related to these proposals in a series of stakeholder feedback sessions hosted in the summer and fall of last year. At that time, HAP engaged regulatory experts from member hospitals to provide initial feedback. The DOH has indicated that it will release its proposed regulatory update in late spring.

HAP has launched a new maternal health webinar series for our members. The educational series is part of our action plan for to improve maternal health quality, access, and equity.

Many of the potential solutions for health care workplace violence lies within our ability to share best practice and collaborate across the broader community. HAP’s Workplace Violence Roundtable meetings bring together hospital staff and leadership, law enforcement, and prosecutors to discuss the challenges and solutions surrounding violence in health care.

The Pennsylvania Continuous Service Readiness Program (CSRP) is a joint effort between Joint Commission Resources (JCR) and The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) to structure and implement a program by which hospitals can receive education, consultation, and feedback on an ongoing basis from JCR and The Joint Commission (TJC) staff.
