The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is a not-for-profit trade association based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which advocates for nearly 235 Pennsylvania acute and specialty care hospitals and health systems including primary care, subacute care, long-term care, home health, and hospice providers, as well as the patients and communities they serve.

HAP’s employees represent its membership in the legislative, regulatory, and health policy arenas in Harrisburg, Washington D.C., and regionally across the state.

The HAP team supports the association’s goal of advocating for a health care delivery environment that enables hospitals and health systems to provide accessible, affordable, quality care to all Pennsylvanians.

Vice President, State Legislative Advocacy

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is seeking candidates for the Vice President, State Legislative Advocacy. The position represents HAP and its membership with the Pennsylvania State Legislature and Administration as a registered lobbyist. In cooperation with HAP colleagues and membership, this position will develop and advance state legislative and policy agendas that support Pennsylvania’s hospitals’ mission to provide access to high quality health care to patients.

Candidates for consideration:

  • Must have a higher education degree
  • Should have a minimum of five years of professional experience working in state government and/or lobbying
  • Must be a strong communicator in both verbal and written forms

In addition, a thorough knowledge of the state legislative and budget process is required.

Director, Media Relations

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is seeking candidates for the director, media relations. The position is responsible for advocating for HAP and its members with the public and national media as a conduit for key messages.

This position will:

  • Build public support for the state’s hospitals and health systems, their missions, and contributions to their communities
  • Successfully pitch and place stories to traditional and digital media outlets, and secure optimum media coverage for the association and its members

Responsibilities also include positioning the association as the leading voice for better health in Pennsylvania. In addition, candidates must be able to serve as a written storyteller.

Candidates for consideration must have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations or related field; Master’s preferred
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in journalism and/or public relations, working with state and national media with established media contacts as well as cross functional team experience 
  • Association experience is a plus
