The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is a not-for-profit trade association based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which advocates for nearly 240 Pennsylvania acute and specialty care hospitals and health systems including primary care, subacute care, long-term care, home health, and hospice providers, as well as the patients and communities they serve.

HAP’s employees represent its membership in the legislative, regulatory, and health policy arenas in Harrisburg, Washington D.C., and regionally, including the southeast.

Cloud Data Architect

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is seeking candidates for a cloud data architect. The position is responsible for creating a detailed vision roadmap and subsequently implement an enterprise cloud data platform to enable health information exchange and data acquisition from national and state agencies. The employee will partner with hospital IT leaders, industry technology and cloud experts, and software and platform vendors.

Successful candidates must have:

  • At least three years of experience as an enterprise architect in a cloud-computing environment in a customer-facing role
  • A minimum of five years of experience in data warehousing, data and system architectures, and supporting systems
  • Experience with business intelligence and data analytics tools and platforms
  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and five years experience with structured enterprise architecture practices, hybrid cloud deployments, and roadmaps; a Master’s degree in computer science or related field and three years experience with structured enterprise architecture practices, hybrid cloud deployments and roadmaps preferred
  • Health care industry experience and knowledge of industry standards such as HIPAA, OSHA, FedRamp, and other regulations around health care data exchange formats

In addition, the successful candidate must also possess strong communication and customer services skills at all organizational levels.

Director, Membership Engagement

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is seeking candidates for the Director, Membership Engagement. This position is responsible for membership support and implementation of engagement strategies and plans. The director will:

  • Work to strengthen engagement opportunities for members
  • Implement strategies that drive overall member value and satisfaction
  • Implement strategic projects focused on member recruitment and retention
  • Leverage high energy and inspiring leadership skills to work closely with all departments to provide excellent member service and engagement
  • Ensure eligible institutions are informed of the benefits of joining HAP
  • Ensure that current members are connected to resources to help them experience HAP’s value

Successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in business, health care, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred. In addition, candidates should have:

  • At least five years’ of work experience in association or account management
  • Experience with data collection, analysis, synthesis, and reporting, including through survey tools and experienced market research
  • Experience with developing presentations and participating in meetings with clients, external vendors, or advisors
  • Experience using and managing an association management system/customer relationship management platform

It is preferred that the candidate possesses experience working with hospitals or health systems.

Director, Political Engagement

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is seeking candidates for Director, Political Engagement. The position is responsible for building financial support as well as designing and executing political strategies to maximize HAP’s political influence—through the political action committees (PAC) of The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP)—HAPAC/HAPAC-Federal (HAPAC), and political campaign activities supporting the best candidates for public office for HAP’s agenda.

Candidates will possess experience in political fundraising, campaigns for political office, and the political landscape in Pennsylvania with an eye for creativity.

This position will work with HAP member hospitals to generate support for HAP’s political strategies. This employee will meet with political and business professionals and build cooperative plans across various sectors of the economy, the electorate, and the political parties in furtherance of electing the best candidates to advance the hospital agenda.

The successful candidate also will need experience guiding political and fundraising consultants’ plans, budgets, messages, and appropriate ways to campaign.

Candidates will possess:

  • Knowledge of current government guidelines, laws, and reporting procedures for PACs
  • Experience with Pennsylvania’s modern political campaigning practices
  • Excellent communication, networking, fundraising, project management, social media, organization, lobbying, and campaigning skills
  • Successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in political science, public, or a related field. Candidates should:
  • Have at least five years of work experience in campaigns, political spending, and PAC fundraising preferably in Pennsylvania
  • Be comfortable meeting with high-level c-suite positions and elected officials.
  • Be familiar with databases and Excel, mass email platforms and practices, social media fundraising and messaging, digital, television, and political mail advertising

Manager, Emergency Management

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania is seeking a manager, emergency management. This team member provides expert consultation and support for emergency managers in health care systems and health care facilities seeking to improve their individual emergency operations plans and enhance their ability to develop organizational planning and response capabilities. The manager also provides subject matter expertise, leadership, management, and support to the association, and provides emergency management consulting support for HAP’s for-profit subsidiary, HAPevolve. They also serve as liaisons between HAP staff and health care facilities and system emergency management programs. 

Candidates for consideration must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree is preferred. In addition, successful candidates will have at least five years’ experience in health care facility-related emergency preparedness and management, or five years’ experience in fire, emergency medical services, clinical/allied health, law enforcement, emergency management agency, or other emergency field-related experience. Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional, certified Emergency Manager/or similarly recognized credential is preferred.

Political Action Manager

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is seeking candidates for Political Action Manager. The position is responsible for managing the political action committees of The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP)—HAPAC/HAPAC-Federal (HAPAC).

Working with the Director of Political Engagement and in consultation with the Legislative Advocacy team, this position will:

  • Implement and manage the annual HAPAC campaign
  • Assist in meeting the campaign goal assigned by the HAP Board of Directors

Other duties include:

  • Developing education resources, fundraising brochures, email solicitations, and other documents as requested
  • Run PAC disbursements
  • Organize PAC contributions
  • Execute logistics associated with fundraising for both direct and event contributions.

Being team-oriented, the manager also will support the political and legislative goals of HAP.

Successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Individuals should have experience in PAC fundraising and association/government relations. It is preferred that individuals have a minimum of three years of related work. Familiarity with PAC software; VOCUS is a plus. Successful candidates will have excellent communication, fundraising, project management, network, and organizational skills.

Producer, Digital Communications

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania is seeking a Producer, Digital Communications, for our communications department. This position is responsible for content production and digital marketing and communications and will work to ensure that HAP’s creative content and strategies are aligned to successfully promote the HAP brand and will develop creative content for email marketing, social media, HAP websites, and publications.

In addition, the incumbent will successfully:

  • Produce and edit videos for the web, social media, research reports, campaigns, events, and more
  • Create motion graphics and animations
  • Contribute to HAP’s email marketing strategies; provide membership database support, produce graphics and other content, build and schedule campaigns, monitor and report the results
  • Assist with measuring and reporting performance of email marketing campaigns, websites, social media channels
  • Provide strategic support for advocacy campaigns and public message campaigns through the identification and deployment of digital strategies
  • Support website manager by producing content for the web, creating/updating webpages, conducting maintenance and enhancing SEM and SEO
  • Exhibit strong customer service skills, and ability to work collaboratively with staff, association members, and external publics

Candidates for consideration must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in communications, digital marketing, or a related field
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience

Successful candidates must possess a solid knowledge of:

  • Video production and editing
  • Motion graphics and animation
  • Familiarity with web-based technologies and Google Analytics
  • Knowledge of marketing automation platforms and customer relationship management systems
  • Experience with digital marketing tools

Project Manager/Infection Prevention

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania is seeking a project manager/infection prevention. This team member works directly with the vice president to implement assigned projects and support deliverables for the Quality Initiatives department through the identification and development of education program topics and development of program curricula. In addition, this individual will:

  • Assess participating hospitals’ needs; design, develop, implement, and evaluate education programming to support program goals
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop instructional methodologies to engage attendees
  • Oversee and/or manage all aspects of program logistics

Candidates for consideration must be a registered nurse, medical technologist, or possess another appropriate clinical degree.  Successful candidates will also have:

  • At least five years of experience in infection prevention, quality management, performance improvement, or regulatory compliance
  • Experience leading quality improvement projects, analyzing data, developing strategies for performance improvement, and writing reports
  • A Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) is preferred

Senior Director, Compliance Support

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania is seeking a senior director, compliance support. The senior director, compliance support, manages issues related to regulatory compliance across the continuum of care and hospital operations. This position plays a pivotal role working closely with HAP member hospital and health system staff in various roles to help members understand and meet the expectations of those who pay and regulate the industry. This position works collaboratively to shape HAP’s regulatory and legislative response to the state and federal public policy issues that affect Pennsylvania hospitals and health systems.

Candidates for consideration:

  • Must have at a minimum a Bachelor’s degree in health care, hospital administration, management, or related field
  • Must have five to seven years of experience in compliance, accreditation services, hospital-based clinical care, hospital operations or administration, or regulatory policy or enforcement
  • Must be self-motivated with strong customer relations and organizational skills
  • Must be able to analyze complex subjects quickly and identify the potential impact on HAP member hospitals and health systems
  • Must have strong presentation and writing skills
