February 14 is National Donor Day; PA Hospitals Encourage Organ Donation

February 14 has been designated as National Donor Day—a day to increase awareness about organ donation and the lives that can be saved. Ninety-five percent of U.S. adults support organ donation, but only 58 percent are registered organ donors. Pennsylvania hospitals are working to change that through participation National Donor Day and the 2020 Pennsylvania Donate Life Hospital Challenge.

First Evidence-Based Guidelines for Pediatric Patients with Sepsis Issued

The international Surviving Sepsis Campaign has issued the first evidence-based guidelines targeted for pediatric sepsis. Sepsis affects more than 75,000 children per year in the United States and results in significant morbidity and mortality. Recognizing which children require sepsis treatment remains a key challenge.

PA Hospitals Encouraged to Join HAP in Support of Organ Donation Day

On January 8, 2020, Donate Life Pennsylvania will hold its first-ever “PA Donor Day” to encourage Pennsylvanians to register as organ and tissue donors. Pennsylvania hospitals and health systems are encouraged to join HAP as a participating organization, helping to spread the word and support the campaign.
