Report: 100 Rural Hospitals Closed Nationwide from 2013 to 2020

The closure of more than 100 rural hospitals during the last seven years led patients to travel about 20 miles farther for inpatient care and 40 miles farther for less common services like alcohol or drug abuse treatment, according to a report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
