The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is a not-for-profit trade association based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which advocates for nearly 240 Pennsylvania acute and specialty care hospitals and health systems including primary care, subacute care, long-term care, home health, and hospice providers, as well as the patients and communities they serve.

HAP’s employees represent its membership in the legislative, regulatory, and health policy arenas in Harrisburg, Washington D.C., and regionally, including the southeast.

The HAP team supports the association’s goal of advocating for a health care delivery environment that enables hospitals and health systems to provide accessible, affordable, quality care to all Pennsylvanians.

Accounts Payable Specialist

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for our Accounting department. This position is responsible for maintaining the accounts payable systems and performing other accounting support functions for HAP, its subsidiaries and affiliated companies, and outside organizations under contract with HAP.

Candidates for consideration must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent education; a two-year technical degree or certificate in business or a related field is preferred
  • A minimum of two years of experience in bookkeeping or a related area is required; three to five years of experience is preferred
  • Proficiency using a personal computer
  • Strong interpersonal skills

In addition, the successful candidate will be detail-oriented with strong analytical, math, and accounting skills.

Project Manager, Readmissions

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is seeking a project manager, readmissions. The project manager works directly with the director to implement the assigned projects and to support the deliverables for the Quality Initiatives department and the Partnership for Patient’s Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) contract through the identification of education program topics and development of program curricula.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assesses participating hospitals’ needs
  • Designs, develops, implements, and evaluates education programming to support program goals
  • Collaborates with faculty to develop instructional methodologies to engage attendees
  • Oversees and/or manages all aspects of program logistics
  • Administers continuing education accreditation procedures and requirements, and ensures continuing education compliance with various licensing and accrediting bodies

Candidates for consideration must:

  • Be a Registered Nurse with a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of recent clinical experience required
  • Case management experience preferred
  • Experience and knowledge regarding hospital readmission best practices, discharge planning, and transitions of care across the health care continuum
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as writing abilities
  • Leadership experience a plus
  • Hospital coaching surrounding readmission project work required
  • Behavioral health experience a plus
  • Experience in staffing committees, working with groups to build consensus, and project management
  • Experience in leading quality improvement projects, analyzing data, developing strategies for performance improvement, and writing reports
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including competency with Word, Excel, and the Internet

Regional Manager, Emergency Preparedness

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania is seeking a regional manager, emergency preparedness that will be responsible for the northwest central and north central regions.

This position provides expert consultation, advisement for emergency preparedness planners in healthcare systems and healthcare facilities seeing to improve their individual emergency response plans, and enhance their ability to participate in regional planning and response. Healthcare facilities include hospitals, long-term care facilities ambulatory surgical centers, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and other facilities the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PADOH) or Regional Coalition deems critical to emergency preparedness planning and response.

The regional manager also provides administrative leadership, management, and support to the assigned coalitions, facilitating business processes, required activity tracking, and reporting activities. They also serve as liaison between PADOH staff and healthcare facilities and systems.

Candidates for consideration must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree—Masters’ degree preferred
  • Five years or more experience in healthcare facility related emergency preparedness and management
  • Five years or more experience in fire, emergency medical services, clinical/allied health, law enforcement, emergency management agency or other emergency field related experience
  • Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional, Certified Emergency manager/or similar recognized credential preferred
  • Candidate must be self-motivated with strong customer relation, computer, and organizational skills
  • The successful candidate must be able to recognize and solve issues quickly, multi-task, travel and work a flexible schedule

Manager, Client Services—HAPevolve

HAPevolve, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP), is seeking a Manager, Client Services. This position coordinates activities and prepares materials to support the client experience for HAPevolve. Responsibilities include coordination of team members who provide consulting and custom education with a range of solutions for business, clinical and regulatory compliance challenges. This position supports the team by building relationships with clients, setting client expectations, and ensuring an exceptional experience. This position functions in both a project development and delivery capacity as HAPevolve develops and grows product lines. There will be a strong emphasis on project management and the successful delivery of products/services as part of a high functioning team. Direct client-facing responsibilities include proposal writing and collaborative presentation development. In addition, it will include responsibilities directing consultants and business partners.

Candidates for consideration must have a Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare related field or equivalent with five to seven years of progressively more responsible experience in consulting. Candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities, resolve complex challenges and demonstrate strong critical thinking skills. Must also be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with various groups, such as human resources and operations.
