A bill giving the Pennsylvania National Guard the ability to assist with the planning of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution is heading to Governor Tom Wolf’s desk for approval.
Today, the Pennsylvania Senate voted 46-0 to approve the legislation that would give the Pennsylvania National Guard the ability to assist with the planning of the COVID-19 vaccine administration across the commonwealth. Earlier this month, the Pennsylvania House approved the legislation, which was sponsored by Representative Tim O’Neal (R-Washington).
The legislation will:
HAP appreciates the collaboration between the administration and the legislature in reaching an agreeable solution for incorporating the Pennsylvania National Guard into the commonwealth’s vaccine distribution plan.
HAP welcomes the opportunity for continued coordination and communication among the stakeholders involved in the COVID-19 vaccination effort and continues to highlight the need for additional resources to effectively meet demand for the vaccine and speed the overall process of administration.
