Earlier this month Governor Wolf announced $50 million in grant funding for life-sustaining employers to provide hazard pay to employees who worked in life-sustaining businesses and operations during the pandemic.
The COVID-19 PA Hazard Pay Grant is available to health care and social services, hospitals, and nursing and long-term residential care facilities, among others, and will support employees earning less than $20 an hour, excluding benefits and overtime.
The grant program is being run through the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED); more information is available online. There are also frequently asked questions posted to help potential applicants determine if they are eligible or ineligible for this funding, the type of employees who can be paid through this funding, and how to apply. For specific questions or more information about the grant, email DCED directly or call (717) 787-6245.
For general funding questions, contact Jolene Calla, Esq., HAP’s vice president, health care finance and insurance.
