Harrisburg, PA (February 8, 2022) – The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) reacted to Governor Tom Wolf’s proposed 2022–2023 state budget. HAP President and CEO Andy Carter released the following statement:
“HAP and Pennsylvania’s hospital community thank Governor Wolf for including measures in his budget proposal to strengthen the health care workforce and expand access to behavioral health care. Addressing these longtime concerns—both pushed to crisis levels by the COVID-19 pandemic—will be critical to helping the health care community recover and grow stronger to care for Pennsylvanians.
Building on the recent bipartisan relief package supporting front-line health care professionals, Pennsylvania needs a persistent and multi-faceted effort to recruit, educate, and train the next generation of clinicians. We must also increase services available throughout our behavioral health care system so that Pennsylvanians can find the care they need, when and where they need it.
HAP looks forward to reviewing the details of the Governor’s plan and working with the General Assembly to ensure that the state budget helps to support health care in Pennsylvania.”
