Chris Daley Joins HAP as Vice President, Strategic Communications

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP), the leading voice for the health and well-being of Pennsylvanians, has hired communications veteran Chris Daley as its vice president of strategic communications. In the senior leadership role, Daley will lead HAP’s communications and public affairs team responsible for media relations, social media strategies, HealthyMePA (HAP’s digital community), member publications, as well as all other association communications services and activities.

“We conducted a national search that led us to Chris, and the team and I are thrilled to welcome him and his superior command of communications strategy and execution,” said Andy Carter, president and CEO of HAP. “Our members’ stories are compelling in their own right, but Chris’ background and talents will help HAP weave them together in new and compelling ways that advance our efforts to build a healthy Pennsylvania.”

Chris spent the last two and a half years running his own consulting agency, Whirlaway. The company provided public relations, social media, and digital marketing services for regional and national clients including the Fair Hill Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore, the Sports & Entertainment Corporation of Maryland, the Lea Marie Faraone Foundation, and Edyoucore Sports & Entertainment.

Prior to starting his own business, Daley spent nearly 13 years with Columbia, Maryland-based, Maroon PR. He had been with Maroon PR since the company was launched by longtime public relations professional, John Maroon during April 2006. During his time with Maroon, Daley served in a variety of leadership roles at the firm including account management and business development director. He led strategic communications campaigns for brands across various industries including hospitals, health care organizations and nonprofits.

“I am humbled to be joining the exceptional HAP team,” said Daley. “Transitioning to a position like this felt like a natural move during this stage in my communications career, and it is a shift that I could not be more excited about. I am looking forward to diving in and working with HAP’s members to empower hospitals and health systems as the leading advocates for improving health across the state.”

In addition to his role with HAP, Chris serves as an adjunct professor in the Business Communication program at Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Maryland.

HAP also is seeking qualified candidates to join the Communications Team, including a Director of Media Relations and a Manager of Integrated Communications. Learn more about these exciting opportunities online.
