What to Know: A Primer on TrumpRx

February 09, 2026

The White House last week unveiled a new direct-to-consumer prescription drug site as part of a larger effort to address rising drug prices.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • About:  Launched last week, TrumpRx is an online portal directing patients to manufacturers’ websites where they can access negotiated prices for common, high-cost brand-name prescription drugs.
  • Background:  The launch comes as Americans continue to report the cost of health care as a top priority issue. The move is part of a larger effort to reduce drug costs and adopt “most-favored nation” pricing.
  • What’s listed:  There are negotiated prices for 43 products, including the products Wegovy and Zepbound.
  • Next steps:  Additional high-cost medications will be added on a rolling basis, federal officials said.
  • Important caveat:  Patients will need a prescription to browse for products online. Purchasing via the portal is for cash-paying patients and would not count toward deductibles for individual insurance plans. Officials said the launch is particularly focused on individuals with “high out-of-pocket costs for medications not fully covered by insurance.”
