Sexual Assault Evidence Kit Tracking System to Launch Statewide this Year

October 02, 2026

State officials this week announced the statewide launch of a sexual assault evidence tracking system will begin later this year.

The launch follows the passage of Act 122 of 2024, which established the tracking system designed to improve transparency and accountability while providing survivors with greater visibility into the status of their evidence.

Earlier this year, the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency began testing the new Track‑Kit system in Erie, Lancaster, and York Counties. The pilot included 12 local hospitals, 64 local law enforcement agencies, forensic nurses, and labs.

State officials said the new system:

  • Allows health care facilities, law enforcement, and forensic laboratories to enter key dates for each kit—from collection through analysis.
  • Give victims/survivors the option to confidentially track their kit and receive automatic status updates.
  • Provide 24/7 help desk availability

“This new tracking system will not only keep victims informed but it will help them get the justice they deserve. It takes all of us to ensure that survivors are supported—from police to health care to victim services—through the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative, we’re ensuring they’re all on the same page and helping survivors get their power back,” Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis said in a statement.
