Scholarship Supports Health Care and Other In-demand Careers

July 14, 2026

The 2026–2027 state budget includes additional funding for a grant program to support Pennsylvania’s workforce pipeline for health care and other in-demand careers.

The approved budget includes $42.5 million for the Grow PA Scholarship Grant Program. About 13,000 individuals already have submitted applications for the 2026–2027 application year, state officials said.

“This program tells students that we’re willing to invest in their future if they’re willing to stay here and work here after graduation in the occupations our communities need most,” Senator Scott Martin, who authored the law creating the program, said in a recent statement.

In its second year, the program provides funding to support in-demand occupations in health care and other fields. HAP successfully advocated for health care to be included among the targeted occupations when the program was created as part of the 2024–2025 state budget.

To be eligible for grants (up to $5,000 per year), applicants must:

  • Be a resident of Pennsylvania.
  • Be enrolled in a post-secondary education institution in Pennsylvania.
  • Pursue an educational program in an in-demand occupation.
  • Be willing to agree to live and work in Pennsylvania in an in-demand occupation for at least one year for each year they accept the scholarship.

A tuition waiver program is available for out-of-state students willing to live and work in Pennsylvania in an in-demand occupation.

Additional information about the program is available online.
