Celebrating Patient Experience Week

April 25, 2023

Patient Experience Week (PX Week) is an annual event to celebrate health care staff who improve the patient experience every day. PX Week provides a focused time for organizations to celebrate accomplishments, re-energize efforts, and honor the people who support patients and families each and every day. This year’s PX Week is from April 23–29.

The Beryl Institute describes the patient experience as “the sum of all interactions, shaped by an organization's culture, that influence patient perceptions across the continuum of care.” By supporting PX Week, you are showing your employees that you appreciate their hard work and encourage their continued efforts on behalf of patients. This week is a great way to enhance patient and staff relations, increase hospital morale, and improve communication.

The Beryl Institute has created a list of resources to assist you with planning a recognition program with suggestions for activities you can implement and offers a list of audiences you should remember during your celebration.

HAP salutes the health care professionals who work to improve patient care, including those dedicated to the patient experience through their membership in the HAP Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). Developed during 2013, and comprised of health care professionals, community leaders, patients, and family members, the HAP PFAC supports hospitals in their patient-and-family-centered-care efforts.
