Celebrating National Healthcare Quality Week

October 19, 2023

Healthcare Quality Week (HQW), brought to you by the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), is a dedicated time to celebrate and raise awareness of the positive impact those working in health care quality and safety have in their organizations and communities. This year’s Healthcare Quality Week is scheduled for October 15, 2023, to October 21, 2023.

Quality has taken center stage towards improving patient outcomes and preparing for upcoming challenges and opportunities in health care. HQW highlights the influence of clinical and non-clinical professionals in improving health care delivery systems, achieving improved patient care outcomes, and increasing patient, family, and health care provider satisfaction.

Hospitals continue to make important steps in these key areas:

  • Fall prevention
  • Reducing health care-associated infections
  • Opioid stewardship
  • Reducing pressure injuries
  • Addressing risk factors for sepsis and blood clotting

HAP's Quality Initiatives team supports Pennsylvania acute care hospitals in quality and patient safety initiatives designed to serve vulnerable populations in the reduction of preventable hospital-acquired conditions, while reducing readmissions. HAP continues a commitment to working with Pennsylvania hospitals on the delivery of safe, patient-centric, high quality health care. For further information regarding HAP's quality of care initiatives, contact Robert Shipp, vice president, population health and clinical affairs.
