Caring for the Commonwealth: Penn State Health
January 13, 2026
Pennsylvania’s hospitals are advancing care in exciting ways that support their patients and their communities.
HAP is putting a spotlight on how Pennsylvania hospitals and their teams are caring for the commonwealth. Patients rely on hospitals to deliver outstanding care when and where they need it, and our hospitals are rising to the occasion.
In our third edition, we’re highlighting how Penn State Health and the Penn State College of Medicine are bringing care directly to communities through the LION Mobile Clinic.
“For many communities that may be geographically isolated, folks may have health insurance, but they may not be able to access health care,” said Michael McShane, MD, EDM, assistant director of Core Clinical Medicine and associate professor, medicine. “So what we try to do is create that opportunity for them to be able to access health care.”
