Are You Ready for Election Day?
October 06, 2023
We are just over a month away from Election Day, and it’s time to make sure you are ready to vote.
This year, the general election is November 7, and we are fast approaching a few key deadlines that you should have in mind. Here are four things to consider:
- Voter registration: To vote on election day, you must complete your application by October 23.
- You can submit your application online or to your county voter registration office.
- Active duty military and hospitalized or bedridden veterans can register any time.
- To register in Pennsylvania, you must be 18 years old on Election Day, a U.S. citizen, and a resident of the state at least 30 days before the election.
- Absentee ballots: The last day to request a mail-in or absentee ballot is October 31.
- If you request an automatic mail-in ballot, you cannot vote as a regular voter at your polling place on Election Day unless you bring your mail-in ballot and envelope to your polling place and surrender it to the judge of elections to be voided.
- Completed ballots must be received by your county election office by November 7 at 8 p.m.
- Election Day: Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The busiest times of day to vote are in the morning and evening. Find your polling place on the state’s website.
- More information: Check your voter registration status online. For questions, contact 877-VOTESPA (877-868-3772).
