New Analysis Shows Increases in Use of Prior Authorization, Burdensome Red Tape

A recently released survey analysis from the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) found that 84 percent of responding providers said the number of medical services that require prior authorization is increasing. HAP and Pennsylvania’s hospital community believe that patient care should not be delayed because of red tape, and support efforts to reform the state’s burdensome prior authorization laws.

Supreme Court Allows “Public Charge” Rule to Move Forward

This week, the U.S. Supreme Court lifted an injunction on the so-called “public charge” rule, allowing it to move forward. The public charge rule could impact the ability of legal (lawfully present) immigrants to get a green card or become a citizen based on the extent to which they access and rely upon public benefits.
