Overview

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) are among the most common complications of pregnancy and childbirth, yet they often go unrecognized and undertreated—contributing to preventable morbidity and mortality. This session will explore innovative approaches and emerging tools aimed at transforming perinatal mental health care. Participants will learn how healthcare organizations and community partners are leveraging digital technologies, data-driven insights, and community-based strategies to improve access, equity, and outcomes. The discussion will highlight practical ways to build sustainable systems of support that promote early identification, timely intervention, and continuous improvement in perinatal mental health.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the prevalence, impact, and disparities associated with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs).
