Overview
Child abuse is a leading cause of death in children in the United States. There are often missed opportunities to identify child maltreatment in the ED setting which can result in increased morbidity and mortality. The Electronic Health Record (EHR) can be used to improve identification, evaluation, and mandated reporting of suspected abuse. There is an opportunity to use existing platforms to connect your hospital to EHR-embedded Child Abuse Clinical Decision Support (CA-CDS), and child abuse expertise, while meeting the Joint Commission’s requirement for universal screening for child abuse.
During this webinar participants will learn:
- How to improve the safety and welfare of the children through early identification of child maltreatment
- How to leverage limited resources in hospitals/health systems to improve child maltreatment screening/diagnosis through the use of CA-CDS
- What the Pennsylvania Child Abuse Initiative is, how it works, and how to join
Target Audience:
- Hospital leadership (including CNOs, CMOs, CEOs) seeking to ensure hospital compliance with the Joint Commission’s requirement for universal screening for child abuse
- CMIOs who have the ability to integrate clinical decision support within the EHR
- Providers - APPs and physicians – who want to improve the quality of care to children in an ED setting
- Nurses, clinical mangers and/or social workers who work in an ED where children are evaluated
