Looking Inward to Move Forward: Health Equity Transformation Assessment (HETA) as the First Step to Advancing Equity

Location: Online

Registration Deadline: November 29, 2022

Overview

Assessing organizational readiness is an important first step in developing interventions to improve health equity and achieve high quality care for all patients. Understanding where your organization is starting from and having the ability to assess when achievements are accomplished are instrumental in combatting the existing systemic issues leading to health disparities.

Join us for conversations with hospital community peers across the commonwealth who are using (or have used) the HETA tool as a way to reflect internally on their organization’s capacity and opportunities to advance health equity.

Objectives

During this virtual networking session, attendees will:

  • Discover why HAP is encouraging member hospitals to enroll in AHA’s Equity Roadmap and complete the Health Equity Transformation Assessment (HETA)
  • Learn about the HETA, an electronic assessment tool that explores six domains to assess what's needed to build internal capacity to improve performance and advance your equity journey
  • Discuss how information gathered through this self-assessment will support HAP in tailoring Pennsylvania-specific tools and facilitating mentor/mentee and cohort relationships among Pennsylvania hospitals

Background

HAP’s Racial Health Equity Learning Action Network (RHELAN) convenes Pennsylvania’s hospitals to advance health equity by working collaboratively to address clinical inequalities that contribute to racial differences in health outcomes and harm patients. Informed by guidance from a steering committee comprised of health equity leaders from across the HAP membership, the RHELAN builds on American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Equity Roadmap to provide Pennsylvania-specific collaboration and learning opportunities.
