Overview
Never before has the task of predicting patient volume been this high stakes and this complex. Will there be a steady reduction in COVID-19 census, a plateau, or future peaks? Hospitals need to know how much of their capacity will be needed for COVID-19 patients so they can safely reopen to all other patients and plan for needed PPE.
During this webinar, you will learn how predictive models used by the Commonwealth are driving policy in different regions, and what trends hospitals should expect for hospital census. Presenters from HAP and Veralon will review the key assumptions and leading indicators that predict the spread of COVID-19 and provide insights on the models. Potential scenarios for hospital census for the balance of 2020 will be examined.
HAP will also review several resources available to members, including HAP’s essential elements of information (EEI) dashboard, which tracks COVID-19 utilization, and free models for predicting COVID-19 census and PPE needs.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the models predicting future COVID-19 hospital census and potential scenarios for 2020
- Discuss regional trends and the likely impact of government policy
- Review resources available to better prepare, including the HAP EEI Dashboard and tools for predicting PPE needs
