Quality Up, Mortality and Readmission Rates Down for Heart Surgery Patients in PA

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) today said that a new report from the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4) shows improvements in the safety and quality of heart surgeries performed by Pennsylvania physicians in Pennsylvania hospitals.

Physician Burnout Trends Continue to Increase Across the U.S.

The newly released “Medscape Lifestyle Report 2017: Race and Ethnicity, Bias and Burnout,” indicates that physician burnout rates continue to trend upward. Since 2013, the rate has increased from 40 percent to 51 percent, which represents a more than 25 percent increase in four years.

PA Hospitals’ Economic Contributions Grow to $115B, Up $4B from 2014

News Release: With a healthy economy high on the public’s list of priorities during this presidential election year, HAP releases its 2015 economic impact analysis showing that Pennsylvania hospitals continue to be a major contributor to the state and local economies.

All hospitals—not-for-profit and investor-owned combined—contributed nearly $115 billion to local and state economies during 2015, an increase of $4 billion from 2014.
