SE PA Zone Structure
Hospitals and government partners in the five-county region of southeastern Pennsylvania (SE PA) have created a zone structure to promote effective
communication, coordination, and mutual support in the event of a disaster. Hospitals and other partners in each zone meet regularly.
Greater Philadelphia Mutual Aid Agreement
To facilitate the sharing of health care staff, equipment, and other support during a disaster, DVHC developed a mutual aid agreement open to all hospitals, health systems, and other health care facilities in Greater Philadelphia.
Public Information During Disasters
During an emergency, communicating accurate, relevant, timely, actionable information to the general public can save lives. To promote the flow of
information and encourage consistent public messaging, DVHC established media protocols and maintains a list
of government contacts for use by hospitals in the event of a declared disaster.
SE PA Specialized Medical Assistance Response Team (SMART)
A joint initiative of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Regional Task Force, the Pennsylvania Department of Health,
DVHC, and the region's health care community, SEPA SMART has portable equipment, supplies, and
credentialed, volunteer team members for providing emergency health care services during disasters.
