In an effort toward alleviating the nursing shortage throughout the nation, Johnson & Johnson is sponsoring a “Campaign for Nursing’s Future,” where they host gala events in a number of states to not only serve as a fund-raising event, but to celebrate nursing professionals for their extraordinary contributions. Pennsylvania’s event, “ The Promise of Nursing for Pennsylvania ,” took place on September 16, 2010, at the Philadelphia Marriott in Philadelphia. More than $330,000 was raised from this event. Funds will be used to support student nursing scholarships, faculty fellowships, and nursing school capacity expansion initiatives. All funds raised will remain exclusively in Pennsylvania. HAP served as a member of the steering committee and will coordinate the review of the nursing school funding proposals.
