The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is a not-for-profit trade association based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which advocates for nearly 240 Pennsylvania acute and specialty care hospitals and health systems including primary care, subacute care, long-term care, home health, and hospice providers, as well as the patients and communities they serve.

HAP’s employees represent its membership in the legislative, regulatory, and health policy arenas in Harrisburg, Washington D.C., and regionally, including the southeast.

The HAP team supports the association’s goal of advocating for a health care delivery environment that enables hospitals and health systems to provide accessible, affordable, quality care to all Pennsylvanians.

Special Assistant to the President

The special assistant to the president and CEO will be responsible for managing the Executive Office and serving as a primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the Executive Office of the President and CEO, including the Board of Directors.

This position is responsible for:

  • Managing internal and external correspondence
  • Monitoring the Executive Office budget
  • Spearheading special projects for the President and CEO
  • Taking the lead on research and briefing preparation
  • Managing special events

Candidates for consideration must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field and five or more years of progressively responsible experience in an administrative role, or combination of commensurate education and experience
  • Proficiency with a personal computer (Microsoft Office and Outlook)
  • Experience with audio/visual equipment is mandatory

This position requires an individual that is well organized and detail-oriented. The successful candidate will must have an understanding of operational matters and committee organization and support. This proactive team player will manage multiple priorities, work in a fast-paced environment, and exhibit flexibility in the face of change.

Director, Media Relations

The director of media relations will be responsible for directing HAP’s media relations program, which advocates for HAP and its members with the public, using state and national media as a conduit for key messages.

Candidates for consideration must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or public relations
  • At least five years of experience working with state and national media
  • Established media contacts

Knowledge of trade, traditional, and business media outlets and a passion for the profession is necessary to be successful in this position.

This position also requires strong social media, message development and presentation skills. Small-scale video content creation and digital marketing background along with association experience is a plus.

Data Analyst

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania is seeking a Data Analyst who will be responsible for discovering, accessing, and distilling processes in data analytics.

Primary responsibilities include primary and secondary research, organizing, refining, and exploratory data analysis, and using analytics to generate inferences in healthcare delivery. Activities will reflect business and information needs. Process improvement and support efforts to drive efficiency from legacy systems to new system and processes.

Under the direction of research leadership, and in collaboration with other members of the division, individual will assist in the development, maintenance and analysis of systems, developing reports and resources to be used by the organization for advocacy and member engagement.

Candidates for consideration must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics, healthcare administration or related field
  • Experience in health information systems, management information systems or other related healthcare experience preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience in data analysis, data mining, or other disciplines in data science
  • Must have experience with business intelligence tool Tableau and demonstrated high level of proficiency with database management applications
  • Must have Analytical skills and statistical knowledge, experience and application of Adobe Creative Suite, advanced SQL, SPSS, Microsoft Excel and Access skills
  • Project management skills and well as creative problem solving skills are necessary
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate in the English language
